UI/UX Design
Overview
The thesis focuses on enhancing PT Duta’s web-based UI/UX using Design Thinking. Initially, the System Usability Scale (SUS) score was 62.4%, indicating usability issues. Through research, prototyping, and testing, significant improvements were made, resulting in 99% effectiveness, 93.2% efficiency, and 75.3% satisfaction. Key enhancements include improved navigation, better visuals, and new payment options, with recommendations for continuous optimization.
User Research & Ideate
The research phase focused on understanding user needs and pain points through observation, interviews, and user persona development. Key findings revealed navigation difficulties, an unengaging interface, and inconvenient payment options affecting teachers, students, and parents.
Based on these insights, the Ideate phase explored creative solutions, including improving navigation flow, enhancing visual design, optimizing accessibility, and introducing better payment options. These ideas were refined to ensure they effectively addressed user challenges, forming the foundation for the prototype and usability testing.
Prototype & Testing
After defining user needs and ideating solutions, a prototype of the improved PT Duta website was developed. The prototype incorporated enhancements such as a more intuitive navigation system, a visually appealing interface, improved accessibility, and additional payment options.
To evaluate its effectiveness, Usability Testing and the System Usability Scale (SUS) were conducted with real users, including teachers, students, and parents. The testing results demonstrated:
99% effectiveness – Users successfully completed tasks with minimal errors.
93.2% efficiency – Users navigated the website smoothly with reduced effort.
75.3% satisfaction – Users found the new design significantly more user-friendly and visually engaging.
Conclusion
The research successfully improved PT Duta’s website UI/UX using the Design Thinking approach. The substantial increase in usability metrics confirms that the new design effectively addresses user needs, providing a better overall experience. Future recommendations include continuous testing and iterative improvements to maintain high usability standards.
